ATTRACTIONS IN ROTORUA VIEW ROOMS

Garden at Government House in RotoruaThe Government Gardens became a recreational area during the last two decades of the 19thCentury. This resulted from the gift of 50 acres containing the medicinal springs from the original Maori owners “for the benefit of the people of the world”. The Gardens provide facilities for bowls, croquet, petanque and golf (the Motutara course is leased to private operators). There are various points of interest including the Arawa Soldiers Memorial, geothermal features, the Kwaqiulth Totem Pole and children’s playground.
